NieR: Automata

In a proxy war waged on a ruined Earth, combat androids 2B and 9S fight to reclaim the planet from alien-created machines on behalf of human survivors hiding on the Moon. However, they discover that humanity is long extinct and the machines possess complex emotions. After 2B is killed by a logic virus, 9S spirals into madness. The truth unfolds that their war is an endless, artificial cycle, culminating in a choice to let the androids' data perish or fight the system to grant them a fresh start.
